Who are L@s GANAS students?

My advice for potential STEM students is to stick with it. I was notified about the L@s GANAS program through Medicina Scholars, an organization on campus for students in pre-medicine. My experience with mentoring in the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program encouraged my interest in the L@s GANAS program. My greatest inspirations are my friends in Medicina scholars whom are exemplary and supportive students.

My advice for potential STEM students is to push through it because it is not an easy path. I discovered L@s GANAS through an email from the ¡Hola! program. I have come to learn that even though science and STEM are difficult, when combined with passion, it is highly rewarding. My grandmother is my greatest inspiration because she is a woman of great faith.

Being a Latina student in the STEM field, I desire to help people improve their health. A career in pharmacy will allow me to advise patients. My greatest inspiration is my mother because she endured hardships for my family.

My greatest inspiration is my mother because she is tenacious.

I chose STEM because I enjoy learning about life and the natural world. I have a lot of career paths to explore. My greatest inspiration is my family. They accomplished great things even though they all had their individual struggles.

My advice to potential STEM students is not have an inferiority complex. You can excel. I learned about L@s GANAS from an advisor of the peer leader program at the Science Learning Center. STEM is important to me because Latinos are underrepresented in this field. I want to show people how smart Latinos are. My greatest inspiration is my dad because he tells me not to doubt myself.

Being a Latina in STEM is important to me because it gives me a platform to tell others how there are many important things they can do to change the world. My greatest inspiration is Michelle Obama because she accomplished her dreams.
